Choosing the Correct Formalwear

As you begin to consider what type of formal wear the men in
your wedding party will wear, you may suddenly find yourself
confused by the maze of formal wear etiquette. Before you get
discouraged, remember that there are just a few very basic
guidelines that should be kept in mind. Also remember that rules
are meant to be broken, but that you should break them through
choice rather than ignorance. Once you understand the guidelines
you'll find it much easier to select just the right formal wear
for the men in your party.

Another thing to keep in mind is that not all formal wear are
tuxedos. Although the word "tuxedo" is used to cover more styles
and colors today, a tuxedo is still one basic design among
several you can choose from. Listed below are the various names
and descriptions of formal wear styles, as well as a chart
showing which style is most appropriate for particular times of
the day:

match the coat. White or color coordinated formal shirt.

vest, white spread collar shirt and stripe four-in-hand tie.
Black formal shoes.

of the bride/groom or bridesmaids).

Can be worn when the groom wears either
the Stroller or Cutaway
changing the tie (a different stripe etc.) allows the groom
to stand out.

The style and color to coordinate with the groom's
outfit. Color of the shirt may be selected to compliment the
individual's counterpart in the wedding party.

Armed with this knowledge, you are now ready to select a formal
wear store from which to rent. You should look for a store that
insists on taking individual measurements. One that tries on
garments to assure perfect fit. A store that provides
knowledgeable sales staff to help you select what looks best and
is proper for your type of wedding and time of day getting
married. Remember, all of these are only guidelines; but now
that you are aware of them, you are an informed consumer, ready
to make the men in your wedding party as well-dressed as can be.
